Cainiao Logistics gears up for Alibaba’s 11.11 shopping festival

The 11.11 has arrived and it is one of the most important days for Cainiao, the logistics affiliate of the Alibaba Group. The 11st of November is the Singles’ day in China and, from 2009, Alibaba made this day into a shopping phenomenon – The Shopping Festival.
Cainiao has been researching and developing more logistics applications using the company’s information system and big-data technology in order to coordinate over 1.7 million delivery personnel, 400,000 vehicles, 5,000 warehouses and 200 airplanes.
Cainiao uses sophisticate logistic systems like e-Waybill system, which shares shipping information among delivery companies, customers and suppliers; it is a application similar to one that Helena showed us in the seminar about how to optimize delivery routes.
In order to make the huge quantity of deliveries more faster and easier, the Logistic company has launched Hassle-free Logistics Service enlisting the support of 49 cross-border delivery partners; and It has also made arrangements with the customs clearance.
